Course Reflectiona and Feedback!!

Well, what a journey this has been!! The explanation for the iLE@RN Model was impressive. I know I remember the Letter "e" for sure - and it is not ELECTRONIC, as I believed it would be. I now know that iLearn model began in 2009 - where was I? Paper and pencil perhaps!! The framework set up has lots of "E" words and all pertinent to our 21st century teacher in all codes - Engaging (who wouldn't want to be!) Encompassing (we can include all!) Excitement (try on a Monday!) Environment (work with what you have!!) Embracing (a hard job to include!) Enthusiasm (we all start with it!) Evolving (the learning process)Excitement (isn't it how it should be learning together!) EXCELLENCE! -Don't we all strive for this every day!

Bloom's Taxonomy - been around for a long, long time. And now we have the revamped version to help us mere mortals to use what is AVAILABLE TO US.  Isn't that the point?  We always knew that some children remember things by rote and other children can create and design from that first remembering! I've gone from Remembering to the Creating - the two ends of the spectrum!! I always worry about the children in the middle, but with Bloom's Taxonomy there is a scope for ALL! The digitally remastered in modern language allows us mere mortal teachers to focus on the technology that HELPS us to DO THE JOB IN THE 21ST  CENTURY!!   I've actually put this model in the front of my programme.

Yes, in answer to the question do I find the Bloom's Taxonomy Digitally (remastered in my words) it works. I now know what the words mean - having done the course and know where it fits in!! I always followed the leading VERBS to programme and now I have the technological parallels (all helpful)

Flikr could be incorporated in Remembering what has been learnt to Creating the degree of expertise as you would expect. Second Life, so impressed with this!! For those who have never been anywhere!! You VIRTUALLY can go anywhere and involve yourself in the virtual reality - see THE WORLD, EXPLORE, ETC (thought of 2 "E" words by myself) Mindmapping - do it all the time but now have a new focus to explore and keep the class 'enhanced'

My journey over Semester Two has been interesting!! I've been kept on task by my colleagues on staff - Oh, so supportive, etc, etc. My advice to all is do this course with a grade partner, friend, colleague, etc so that you can bounce off each other and support. We are all in the one boat and need to help, care and share as is the "catholic ethos".

In conclusion, I have learnt that we are NOW teaching a new generation of children who have the RIGHT  to learn and experience THE BEST  from the teachers and it is our role to include all the modern technologies in our everyday life as it is in their own families.

Children can blog, wiki etc to ENHANCE their learning, EMBRACE their ENVIRONMENT and ENHANCE their learning!! All good in the scheme of things!!! There are no boundaries anymore, no walls as such. The world is our oyster, so to speak. We have local, national and now international avenues to learn. Our role as a teacher is to be discriminative and discerning as well as, being educationally aware of the websites available and being age related to our class. We also need to educate our pupils and PARENTS  to be aware of the RESPONSIBILITY we have and SHARE  to educate the children the best way we can  NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.

  1. Congratulations on finishing Peta! I enjoyed reading your very cleverly written reflection and look forward to hearing how you have used some of the Web 2.0 tools in your classroom.
